Universal design means creating spaces that suit everyone, without compromising aesthetics. In this project, careful attention was given to small details such as handle and tap selection, cabinetry and bench heights, and material choices, all designed to support comfort, safety, and ease of use. Materials were selected to be durable, safe, and visually pleasing.

The client is a retired woman in her 60s who lives alone and has arthritis. The home is a one-bedroom residence designed to support independent living. Inspired by the coastal atmosphere of Manly, Sydney, the design uses soft colours, natural textures, and relaxed coastal elements. The client’s interest in photography and art is reflected through the display of personal artworks and photographs throughout the space, creating a home that feels personal, supportive, and calm.
